The Hunger Games

After 5 years of slaving away at University, dreaming of the day when you are actually earning your own money and can buy the clothes you want to wear and start saving up money for that designer piece which will add so much opulence to your wardrobe, it has finally happened. The day I have been waiting for: My very first job. Now, here is an observation I picked up when I was in this period of transition. Us humans, we are always left wanting more.We always want things which we do not have, and once we have it we always look towards the bigger, the better and the shinier. I left the beautiful Mother City behind, a place where I first fell in love and where I had most of my success as a human, to explore the new land of the Zulu and the Indian Ocean: Durban. My experiences this far, summarized: 1. Working in a professional environment is hard: The business world is definitely not for the faint-hearted. 2. Durban has a very interesting sense of style, a little bit stuck in the 90's with an eclectic mix of traditional and the retro, but it has not quite matured as well and the fashion scene in Cape Town. 3. Durban's Winter is the kindest ever. 4. The social life in Durban is very laid-back and relaxed, maybe sometimes too relaxed. 5. My style and sense of fashion has slowly deteriorated in the 5 months I have been here, and I run the risk of being just another gay person with not fashion sense. 6. I will be the one to call it out: Top Man and Zara Man only cater for the the famished boys. :( 7. Despite everything, Durban's beauty amazes me and I may just fall in love with the city. Till next time. PS: I am on this mission to become a skinny sexy person by the end of December. PSS: *Wipes the chocolate off my mouth*. Adios!
